First Day Cover. 23 March 1942 Addis Ababa cancel. 34C franking.
No official first day covers were produced. F. L. Aga, an Addis Ababa stamp dealer, produced many of the first day covers produced.
While Hailé Selassié returned to Ethiopia on January 24, 1941, the Ethiopian Post office did not begin functioning again until 1943.
For the most part, the British Military mail system was used between 1941 until 1943.


Surface Mail to US. 23 March 1942 Addis Ababa cancel. 20C franking.
Cancelled on the first day of issue, 23 March 1942 in Addis Ababa. 20 Centimes pays the correct surface rate to the United States.
Letter sent to Khartoum and via the BOAC Horseshoe airmail route to Capetown, South Africa.
It was opened by South African censors prior to being place on a ship for delivery to the United States.
